White House Proposes $2,770,000,000,000.00 Budget

February 6th, 2006 by Max

The White House released it 2007 budget today. The AP coverage is here and you can read it in all it’s official glory here(printed out, it’s about 7 inches thick).

For perspective, take a look at this new report from Brian Riedl at the Heritage Foundation called Federal Spending — By the Numbers. There, you’ll find out that $2.77 TRILLION is about twice as much as federal government spent in 1992, and a TRILLION more than it spent in 2000–the last year of the Clinton Administration when it spent “just” $1.79 TRILLION and the era of big government was over. That means this budget proposes that the federal government spend 56 percent more than it did in 2000.
