RUNAWAY: Congress Adds $3 Trillion to Debt

The U.S. Senate is preparing to vote to raise the federal debt ceiling this month. According to Treasury, the total debt held by the public combined with intra-governmental holdings, or securities held by government accounts, stood at $8.27 trillion as of the end of February. The federal debt has increased $3 trillion since 2002.
