Senate: Trying to spend more
April 18th, 2006 by MaxThe Senate is trying hard to spend even more of those tax dollars you just finished filing. The Heritage Foundation has just released “The Senate’s Deadly Sin: Larding Up Emergency Appropriations” which looks at the $24,000,000,000.00 (that’s billions) the Senate is right now trying to add to the President’s $92,000,000,000.00 President Bush requested for Iraq. This may suprise so one, since Congress, as the report points out, “expanded federal government spending by 45 percent since 2001 and enacted the most expensive agriculture, education, Medicare, energy and highway (containing the infamous “Bridge to Nowhere”) bills in American history.”
To quote Hillary Clinton, of all people, “I think a return to fiscal discipline, living within our means is essential for our long-term health.” Words the Senate should heed, even if they came from the woman who tried so socialize health care in America.
Call you Senator to say enough is enough. If you don’t have the number the US Capitol Switchboard number is (202) 224-3121, they should you through.
