Seven Republicans Vote for Minimum Wage Hike

June 16th, 2006 by Sean Flynn

Seven Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee voted on Tuesday for legislation that would raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 per hour. That story here.

Cato Institute chairman William A. Niskanen nicely sums up the consequences of such a move in his post on Cato’s blog. These Republicans voted the wrong way on the minimum wage: John Sweeney (NY), Jim Walsh (NY), Ray LaHood (IL), Jo Ann Emerson (MO), Don Sherwood (PA), Bill Young (FL), and Mike Simpson (ID).

Obviously these seven read ‘the Communist Manifesto’. Let’s say we raise the minimum to $25/hour and legislate ourselves into properity?
