More Evidence of Government Waste

July 20th, 2006 by Brendan Steinhauser

This article is just plain disturbing.  Some of our friends in the Homeland Security department “charged taxpayers for a shopping spree after hurricanes ravaged the Gulf Coast, spending tens of thousands of dollars for items such as a beer-brewing kit, dog booties and a 63-inch plasma television set.”

Yet another reason why budget restraints are needed and the federal government bureaucracy must be cut.  When the money keeps pouring in without accountability, the government workers use the taxpayers’ money to treat themselves.

This is also more evidence of the immorality of the current tax system, which compels taxpayers to give much of their paychecks to the government, while it is spent just like it was “someone else’s money.”

Is anyone surprised?

    Great find, Brendan.

I just sent that around to my local state auditors’, to my alma mater that has some problems as to credit cards and also one of my bosses.

As my state’s Dino Rossi, President of Forward Washington and former WA gubernatorial candidate, would say: Accountability before money!
