Leftist Senators think your money belongs to them
August 1st, 2006 by Brendan SteinhauserReading the recent debate about the death tax and minimum wage increase has clarified how leftist Senators view your tax dollars.
To quote Ted Kennedy, the Republicans attached “hundreds of billions of dollars in tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans” to the minimum wage bill.
Senator Harry Reid adds, “They’re threatening to deny a raise for 11 million Americans if they can’t give away billions to 12,000 of their wealthiest friends.”
This class warfare rhetoric is sickening. I would encourage everyone reading this blog to call these Senators and kindly ask them why they consider giving taxpayers their money back to be a “giveaway.” Seems to me that the true crime was the government’s “takeaway” from taxpayers to fund the government’s socialist pet projects.
Perhaps the “giveaway” that should be administered is a massive transfer of money from the government to the taxpayers. We could start by scrapping the tax code and instituting a flat tax.

Well was said by British Columbia (Canada) Premier Gordon Muir Campbell:
if you are an individual in British Columbia earning $80,000 or less, you are paying the lowest rate of personal provincial income tax of any jurisdiction in Canada.
“For me, that’s good news because in spite of the fact that we’re passing a government budget, remember this: there is no such thing as government money. It is all your money, and we’re now able to leave a little more in your pockets because we have actually tried to provide some discipline around government expenditure. We have balanced our budget. We are properly planning for the future. We have executed a plan.”

Here’s an even better British Columbia (Canada) Premier Gordon Muir Campbell quotation for the history books:
…At the end of the day, there is no such thing as government money. There is only your money. It’s only your wallet that government reaches into. So our obligation is to make sure that we first of all honour the trust you give government in allowing us to tax you and to provide services. But we also understand that our obligation is to provide the best possible service at the lowest possible price, which equals the best possible value to taxpayers. You never let us forget that, and for that, we say thank you.
