What’s wrong with Republicans
October 16th, 2006 by Brendan SteinhauserThere is a great article on Opinion Journal today.
An excerpt,
“If congressional Republicans are facing a rout come November, it’s in no small part because they’ve been headed down the Ohio highway. A few Supreme Court appointments and tax cuts aside, Republicans have largely abandoned the reform agenda that swept them to power in 1994. Their zeal has instead been directed at retaining power, which explains the earmarking epidemic and the Abramoff corruption that followed. Reform of Medicare and Social Security, the death tax, immigration, health care–all fell off the map.
Democrats would certainly call this agenda extreme, but it was never the existence of the platform that angered voters. It was Republicans’ failure to act on it.”
Exactly. The GOP might want to re-read the highlighted quote. If they get stomped come Nov. 7th, it will be because many Republicans have abandoned limited government principles.

You will get no argument from me.
When I vote Republican, I vote for the following:
*Clean government
*Acute government - small, but sharp as in effective and efficient
*Respect for personal liberty
When I vote Democrat, it’s as a means of last resort to get the first two because I know taxes and regulations will almost certainly increase with the Democrat. The Democrat will also be voted in because the Republican candidate is so, so corrupt as in Ohio and in Skagit County, WA USA.
