Dick Armey and FreedomWorks shaping the political debate

October 30th, 2006 by Brendan Steinhauser

FreedomWorks chairman Dick Armey’s free market message has been resonating with pocketbook conservatives. His recent op-ed in Sunday’s Washington Post has created a flurry of news coverage. Our media room has been ringing off the hook today with requests to talk to Armey.

This morning the Chris Core show on Washington’s WMAL 630 talked about Armey’s critique of the Republican Party. On Tuesday night Armey will be on MSNBC’s Hardball. Armey’s Post article has been picked up by newspapers as far away as Australia and even Qatar.

Here is the original article, “Where we went wrong.”

This is from Fox News:

According to one Republican who played a lead role in the GOP takeover of Congress in 1994, the race is not about Bush or Iraq. In a tough op-ed piece in Sunday’s Washington Post, former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey wrote that his party will lose control of Congress because “Republican lawmakers forgot the party’s principles, became enamored with power. Now, the Democrats are reaping the rewards of our neglect — and we have no one to blame but ourselves.”
