Wall St. Journal highlights Congressional accomplishments

December 13th, 2006 by Brendan Steinhauser

It is not often that we get a chance to praise something Congress has done. So today I’ll take the opportunity to agree with the Wall St. Journal that Congress pushed through a few good bills on its way out of town.

Here is the Journal piece.

The Journal highlights the following legislation:

1. free trade bills with Vietnam, Haiti and the Andean nations

2. health savings account improvements

3. a stopgap continuing resolution that will save taxpayers $17 billion

4. an energy bill opening up the outer continental shelf to drilling

Overall, though, the Journal calls the 109th Congress “a study in disappointment.” I would have to agree with that sentiment.
