Florida Considers Counterproductive Ideas on Insurance
January 18th, 2007 by Chris KinnanFreedomWorks and Dick Armey sent a letter to new Florida Governor Charlie Crist yesterday to alert him to the counterproductive ideas being considered as reform in the sunshine state. In the wake of Katrina and Rita, the rising cost of property insurance is a huge issue across the Gulf region, but many of the ideas targeting these costs may not work, and in fact may make things worse by driving insurers out of the state. I’m not entirely convinced that the debate is shifting outside of an influential but still small subset of the blogosphere. But the potential for a shift is clearly there, and the politics of the recent debate over Lieberman-Warner do suggest a future in which cap-and-trade just isn’t on the table.
