French socialist candidate defeated!

France took an important step away from socialism with the defeat yesterday of madame Royal, and the election of Nicolas Sarkozy as president. Sarkozy may not be as dedicated to free market principles as Frederic Bastiat, but he is vowing to make meaningful market reforms and make changes to the French statist system. And anytime a socialist candidate is defeated, it is good news for the economic and political well-being of the nation.
