House Telecom Hearing Tomorrow

May 9th, 2007 by Brendan Steinhauser

The House of Representatives is holding one of its “Digital Future of America” hearings tomorrow at 9:30am. Witnesses include Mark Cuban (Dallas Mavericks owner and HDNet owner), Tom Rogers (president of TiVo) and Phil Rosenthal (creator of “Everybody Loves Raymond”, representing SAG and the Writers Guild.)

It will be interesting to see how much meddling and regulation the politicians hope to use to stifle innovation and technology in this market. Wouldn’t it be a novel idea if the government allowed these companies to compete in a free and open market, absent regulations and taxes, so that we could enjoy the continued benefits of competition and choice? Something tells me that the Left will bring out its latest excuses to try and regulate some aspect of these new technologies. Call it a hunch.

The hearing should be interesting to say the least. I will try to provide an update tomorrow at the conclusion of the hearing.
