and Gilmore flunked it. He completely sidestepped the issue! He seemed to begrudgingly acknowledge that there was a problem with Social Security (I think I heard something about “capping the program”?) and then quickly turned to attacking other candidates on issues like taxes and abortion…disappointing.

On the opening questions about taxes I saw a lot of posturing concerning tax cuts, but not a lot of talk about fundamental tax reform. Actually, only Huckabee brought up the idea of the sales tax as a way forward. Why do the front runners continue to ignore big ideas?
