We’re an hour into this, and I’m still waiting for a candidate to address Social Security and fundamental tax reform.

Is it just me…or are all of these questions about “difficult situations” reminiscent of the “gotcha moment” when a debate host gave Mike Dukakis the opportunity to drop the ball on a capital punishment question?

I am quite sure…yes let’s go to the tape:

and Gilmore flunked it. He completely sidestepped the issue! He seemed to begrudgingly acknowledge that there was a problem with Social Security (I think I heard something about “capping the program”?) and then quickly turned to attacking other candidates on issues like taxes and abortion…disappointing.

But it is oddly delayed…I guess he is looking for a second day story tomorrow. MMMMMMmmmm? He says that he’ll name names. My guess…they start with Gu, McC, and Rom.

I like Sam, in fact I know Sam, but Sam is as wrong as the President when it relates to energy independence…ethanol is not solution to America.
Who will be the candidate to raise Nuke Energy and if necessary the development of 3rd gen bio-de…using non-food grade or feed grade matter?

On the opening questions about taxes I saw a lot of posturing concerning tax cuts, but not a lot of talk about fundamental tax reform. Actually, only Huckabee brought up the idea of the sales tax as a way forward. Why do the front runners continue to ignore big ideas?
