Democrats plan to curtail free speech on talk radio
June 28th, 2007 by Brendan Steinhauser“I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.” Who said this?
No, it is not Hugo Chavez, it is Democrat Senator Dick Durbin. What do these two guys have in common? Both want the government to exert considerable control over broadcast media by regulating those who disagree with them.
The Left has really taken a dangerous turn on this one. The Center for American Progress and its allies (Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein and Dennis Kucinich) can’t deal with the fact that the market of talk radio listeners has rejected their socialist agenda for America, so they want to force Americans to listen to this agenda.
Amanda Carpenter at TownHall.com has written a good piece on the issue, and Representatives Mike Pence and Jeb Hensarling will be authoring legislation against the idea of the Orwellian “Fairness Doctrine.” All those who care about free speech and private property rights should be up in arms over this one.
Check out the photos from today’s press conference on Capitol Hill. Our interns joined various conservative congressmen to stand up for free speech.
