House passes $16 billion tax increase
August 6th, 2007 by Brendan SteinhauserThe Democrat controlled House of Representatives passed its energy bill this weekend, which would raise taxes on energy by $16 billion. Who will pay for this new tax hike? Why, Big Oil, of course. But who will really pay for this tax hike? Consumers. Anyone that uses oil and gas will bear the brunt of these new penalties on energy production. When will the left learn that corporations just pass new taxes onto consumers? Probably never.
But the American people should remember this as they meet with their elected officials during the congressional recess in August. Ask them whether they supported or opposed adding to the already high energy costs in this country.
[The Senate passed its own energy bill a few weeks ago, and it did not raise taxes. The two bills will have to be discussed in conference committee later on.]
