Lone Rangel

August 29th, 2007 by Peter Suderman

Over at the Hill’s Congress blog, a place where legislators get to post substanceless political boilerplate, Charles Rangel blathers on:

Five years after the last recession ended, we still have higher poverty, lower wages and more uninsured. We need to change our economic course. Our focus should be on supporting working families, rather than on further enriching the wealthiest among us.

Sure Charlie, except that, no, U.S. incomes aren’t falling. And you can talk about your preferred economic policy all you want; it won’t change the fact that you’re trying to con taxpayers into dropping $2 million on centers named after yourself.

Update: And guess what? Far from the economy sticking it to the poor, it’s making improvements: Poverty is down this year.
