Fred Thompson Announces Candidacy, finally

Well, after months of speculation and ‘testing the waters’, former Senator Fred Thompson formally announced his intention to run for President of the United States in 2008. Thompson made the announcement last night on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, conveniently while the rest of the candidates were participating in a Fox news debate. Here’s a clip of his announcement:

    I am for Fred Thompson. I think he is the only opportunity that the Republican Party has to win over the Democrats. I am looking for the momentum to pick up in the financial situation.

    I am retired. I do not have much money. But, I do have prayers. I will pray for Fred’s success.
