You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. Put a stand up for the American Flag this is America. We do not promote other country flags as a nation. Therefore the only flag that can be promoted would be the American flag in a public school which is paid for by American tax dollars. This is not a freedom issue it is a location issue. You can't make a decision on which flag but can make a decision on how to dress etc.. Thats not about freedom its about patriotism and if someone is in this country they should not be able create a small Russia or some other nation within our Nations boundaries, if that is what they want then let them migrate to that country of choice. Thats what freedom is allowing you to do what you wish without hindering you within the laws of our nation, including certain levels of respect for the Nation such as you can not burn the American flag just because you....

Mr. Johnson,

You say educators didn’t want to be forced to pick and choose which flags should be permissible. Here is a hint, you are in the United States of America. Only one flag should be allowed to flag over our schools and that is the American Flag, this should be a no brainer. What are the educators teaching our children? It is bad enough that you have taken God out of your schools but now you want to take America out too. Then when they disrespect the teachers and each other you wonder why? You claim to be educators and I say you are detroyers, you are destroying our children which is the reason I have taken my children out of your school systems because your education system is the beginning of the destruction of the very fabric that this great nation was founded on. God have mercy on you when you stand before judgement. You have a chance to mold the future generation and yet you are destroying it. I pray for you and the educators of this great country. May God be with you all.

As a band director/educator for nearly thirty years and a trumpet player for over forty, I am appalled at the actions of Hobbton H.S. We have in our school district in Sioux City, Iowa a program entitled "Trumpets For Veterans" whereas we TRAIN our young trumpet players how to play TAPS at Military funerals, and to regard our flag with the utmost respect and reverence.

Mr. Johnson is "over the top" on this issue and needs a thorough course in American history.

Dear Mr. Johnson,
I had the pleasure of being a band director for 31 years in the Spencer Community Schools, during which time we taught our students proper respect for the flag when in public and at home.
I was also a member of the Strategic Air Command Band which played our national anthem hundreds of times, and I personally have played taps for funerals over 3000 times.
This is something different I understand, but please take the time to inform your students as to why we should honor our flag and honor America every day as we wear a small flag on our clothing, and fly a flag in front or our homes.
Best Regards and best of luck.
