Charlie Rangel filled some column inches in the Wall Street Journal defending his tax plan yesterday. He claims that his plan would “stop the middle class tax raid.” So it’s a boost for the middle class! Right? Well, maybe not. Economist Greg Mankiw says the biggest beneficiaries of the tax cut would be the 3% of earners who make between $200,000 and $500,000 a year. Meanwhile, National Center for Policy Analysis chairman Pete du Pont enters the WSJ ring with Rangel and parses out the plan from a different perspective.
