Sen. Landrieu Touts The Second Louisiana Purchase

November 14th, 2007 by Chris Kinnan

If you don’t think political norms about spending and earmarks have changed for the worse, take a look at today’s screen shot of Senator Mary Landrieu’s Senatorial web site (site and graphics also paid for by taxpayers, BTW) touting twelve billion in new spending. As one friend put it, “The Louisiana purchase only cost the United States $15 million. I am not sure what that is with inflation, but it still might be less than the $12 billion we paid for the state last week.” Too true.

The so called Jones Act is not working in the U.S. oilfields, in the Gulf Of Mexico. There are too many foreign vessels working in the gulf, taking away many jobs for American company’s & crews , its time for the Dept. of Homeland Security to take a log hard look at this growing problem.
