Ron Paul’s thrift

November 20th, 2007 by Brendan Steinhauser

The New York Times blog “The Caucus” points out that not only is Congressman Ron Paul raising a lot of cash, but he is being very frugal with what he raises.

As of earlier this month, Mr. Paul’s campaign had spent only 46 cents for every dollar raised, compared to most campaigns that spend whatever comes in. Where other campaigns freely give out yard signs, posters and other handouts, the Paul campaign tells supporters to make their own or buy them from the campaign — at cost.

With this kind of money management, Congressman Paul should be able to compete well in New Hampshire, where he already has a captive audience of liberty-loving folks. Based on my trips to the state, the populace has a much better understanding of liberty than, say, Hollywood or New York City.

That is why Fred Thompson needs to talk about his Federalism, Individual Liberty, and Economic Liberty message in New Hampshire.

Trey, I believe that the Thompson campaign is starting a massive fund raising push tomorrow. It will be interesting to see the results.
