Ron Paul supporters sprinting to New Hampshire primary

December 6th, 2007 by Brendan Steinhauser

The fundraising and grassroots organizing of the Ron Paul for president campaign are quite impressive. Even the Washington Post has caught on to the “Ron Paul Revolution.”

Reporter Alec MacGillis writes in today’s paper,

With so much money in the bank — and with more expected after another one-day fundraising “bomb” pegged to the Dec. 16 anniversary of the Boston Tea Party — the Paul campaign is in a position to make a push in a state whose “Live Free or Die” ethos makes it an ideal early target for the iconoclastic congressman.

New Hampshire is definitely a more libertarian-leaning state, and is much smaller than Iowa, which makes it easier for volunteers to go door-to-door, meet with primary voters in restaurants and bars and call potential voters. It will be interesting to see how high Congressman Paul can finish in the state. My guess is that he is attracting enough conservatives, independents and anti-war voters to do very well indeed.

Ron Paul could very well win NH, but he won’t win the nomination because of his foreign policy.

This is off topic, but with regard to Gov. Huckabee, my only question for him is, “Gov. Huckabee, how can you rightfully call yourself a limited government conservative when you welcome, with open arms, endorsements from big government Union?”

Personally, I think Gov. Huckabee is trying to smooth talk his way to the presidency, and history has shown that “smooth talk” can work. That’s the only reason why President Clinton got elected.
