Candidates to Pay Your Bar Tabs

January 15th, 2008 by Peter Suderman

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are both proposing so-called economic stimulus packages worth more than $100 billion.  James Pethokoukis has the details, but they pretty much boil down to, “Here, let me mail you a check for a couple hundred bucks.”  That’s a recipe for hours of fun at a fine local establishment, no doubt, but it’s not exactly a recipe for serious economic stimulus. Handing out checks is just an easy way to say you’ve done something; pumping the economy, on the other hand, requires serious changes in tax rates, the kind that create real economic incentives to unlock capital and spur investment. This means things like cutting corporate tax rates, which, as Dick Armey noted recently, hover around 40% when you include state taxes.  Instead, we get a night on the town and the hope that it’ll make you forget all your worries.

Hmmmm…those plans sound *amazingly* similar to a Bush plan I remember being implemented earlier this decade. Remember those couple of hundred dollar federal checks that we all got back then? Were you guys opposed to that as well??

You guys are hilarious…when are you taking this comedy show on the road? Do you spend that much money in bars?

“serious changes in tax rates,” = translates to tax cuts ONLY for the rich

“the kind that create real economic incentives to unlock capital and spur investment.”
= more money to invest in the stock market.
    also
= not a penny made available to spend in the stores - Target, Wal-Mart, grocery stores, Penny’s, etc. etc. etc

the ripple effect of money spent in consumption is what will get the economy rolling again.

    Obama’s Dirty Trick on Internet

Dear Sisters and Brothers for Hillary,

It is important, I think, to counter what is being said about Hillary and Chelsea on one very nasty pro-Obama website I came across, http://www.matrix-evolutions.com. They are connecting up Bill’s thing with Monica Lewinsky with a hint of parental sexual abuse on Chelsea, if you can believe it! Quickly, I think, shouldn’t something should be done before it blows up in Hillary’s face as an “Internet rumor?”

    Onward to victory,

You will never be hired or get a job from a poor man…….If you want the so called poor of America, who own big screen TV’s and Cell phones, to be prosperous then give the tax breaks to the people who supply the jobs and
    more jobs will be created…….
