You don't think that the oil industry has benefited from the fact that there hasn't been a refinery built in this country for around 30 years? "Clean coal" is a lie. There is no "clean coal" technology yet.

I agree that if we don't come up with a real energy policy that has real alernative energy sources in it that we'll eventually be drilling for oil in any place that it might located...including your backyard & off every U.S. coastline.

Every nuclear power plant that you know of now is simply a permanent nuclear waste dump, period. Do you really want more of that??

We do need an energy policy that calls for more drilling and refining. Too many REPs have caved in to the enviornmental extremism lobby and cut off our ability to produce more energy for the country. We also need nuclear power, clean coal and less foreign oil.

As for global warming, all I can point to is a quote from Adolf Hitler:

"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it"

I would hope the GOP would start standing up for truth instead of hype.

What the heck does "Environmental Stewardship" mean? Without rules, how can you get there?

Conservatives should talk about Environmental Stewardship, but not about regulations and litigation.

They shouldn't talk about it all. They don't care about it...so why talk about it?

I don't believe in global warming, and I've been involved in that field for almost 20 years now. That doesn't mean that one should be against having a solid, renewable energy policy that includes conservation and real alternative energy choices. In the long run, this saves govt. and businesses money, which is what you guys are about in the first place right? Even if global warming isn't occuring, having less carbon being put into the atmosphere is good for humans...you wouldn't want to breath more CO2, CO, etc.

I was at the museum of natural history in a small town in VA recently. The exhibit for mastodons and mammoths stated that the SW VA valley 14,000 years ago was the climate of Alaska. I think these animals should have had more efficient cars so they wouldn't have caused global warming and changed VA's climate to what it is today! LOL
