Students for Saving Social Security Making Waves

March 17th, 2008 by Brendan Steinhauser

FreedomWorks’ best allies on the issue of personal accounts for retirement security is the student group S4. They have done a magnificent job taking their message to Congress and the presidential candidates over the past few years. I watched this group form and grow, and I have to say that there dedication to their cause is quite impressive.

Based on their grassroots organizing and creative antics, S4 was named deemed by CNN anchor Nicole Lapin “young people who rock.”

Check out Nicole’s blog post here, and then watch the S4 video with presidential candidate Senator John McCain.

I am running for House of Representatives in Massachusetts. I am interested in eliminating social security, because no one should be forced to participate in that kind of social economic pyramid, and that it shouldn’t be in the hands of Congress.

Congress has known for years of the failed social security system. That’s why they have set up pensions (very generous ones) for themselves and even their spouses to collect when they die. The cap on social security allows no one to collect more than about one thousand dollars a month. Tell congress to give up their pensions and rely only on social security. Then see how quickly the system is fixed.
