House Democrats Call for Nationalization of Oil Refineries
June 19th, 2008 by Brendan SteinhauserRepresentative Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) called for a government takeover of the oil refineries at a press conference yesterday. Paraphrasing, he said, We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market.
Apparently Hinchey is reading the memos of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez these days. How did that whole nationalization thing go in Cuba and Venezuela, anyway? Economic planning and socialism are alive and well in the U.S.

Actually, he said “the people of the United States,” not “the government.” But nice “paraphrase” anyway.
Not sure exactly what I think about this idea anyway. It’s never going to happen, regardless, but might start an actual conversation about it. Something I doubt we’ll see here.

Nationalization of Oil Refineries? WTF, does anybody care? What’s next, a nationalization of gas stations? It is time for people to stand up to these a$$holes and bring them down. These liberal, Birkenstock wearing, wealth distribution, tree hugging pukes are killing this Country.

What do you mean turning into? They’ve been there for a long time….more govt control in our lives, more taxes to fund social programs, and their need to save us from ourselves….that’s the message of the democrats.
It’s no wonder that this idea has been launched. And people actually think we have a free market in this nation? Not any longer, with all the govt regulations and hoops one has to jump through, no matter what kind of business you may be running.

Let me see if I got this right. Democrates have ruled for most of the last 50 years and congress is infilitrated by leftest attorneys. So what is their track record.
1.The Fed Gov. is in charge of immigration, It is a failure.
2. The Government took over the Educational system. It is a failure.
3. The governement controls banks, FHA,FNMA and FHLMC and they are failures.
4. The Federal Government is in charge of highways and bridges and they are falling apart.
5. The government is in charge of the quality of our food and they wiped out tomato gorwers because they couldn’t find that pepers were killing citizens.
6. The Federal government is in charge of military hospitals yet Veterans are suffering from lack of care.
7. The government is in charge of Social Security and it is bankrupt.
8. The Federal Government is incharge of Medicare and Medicaid and it is going bankrupt.
9. The governing system is broken because judges are pasing laws from the bench and liberal lawyers wont legislate to stop it.
10 The government isin chaqrge of the banking system yet, banks made risky investments and now are failing left and right. (NO PUN INTENDED)
11. The federal government changed the rules on the lending practices S & L s. and within 65 years the entire S & L industry failed costing trillions. ( I gave testomony against these changes and still remember Ted Kennedy telling me that I should modernize my thinking). He is still there.
We cant solve the health care problem because 38% of the Senate and House are lawyers and they will not pass tort reform. Trial lawers are doubling the cost of health care insurance.
Tort reform could happen if we could get rid of the incumbant lawyers but the same group will not vote on term limits.
Campaign reform will never happen because the same attorneys will not permit it to happen or they would have to look for a real job.
The reason we have so many lawyers in congress is because the rich trial lawyers keep feeding their relection campaingns. There is no end to this.
These are sicialist ideas just like ntaionalized health care andmust be stopped. Some responders say it cant happen but that is how we got the above failures
And now they want to run the refineries? Let me see if I can figure how this would work. The Domocrates stopped building new refinerie but is the government runs them it will be ok. So they will use our tax money to build new plants and give me cheaper gas. Then they can raise the taxes I pay on a gallon af gas to pay for inefficent government.
Give me a break.
