Bailout Bill Horrors

October 2nd, 2008 by Rossputin

While I can’t say I’ve read the whole “financial rescue” bill, I have read the tables of contents of the whole bill and then read the sections I found most interesting.

Please read my thoughts on the pork and horrible legislation jammed into this travesty of a bill…a travesty which I expect will pass the House narrowly tomorrow. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it fails again, regardless of what the stock market does, but I have a feeling that today’s roughly 4% drop in the S&P will cause some “no” votes to lose their courage.

I agree again with Rossputin on this one (although, again, for different reasons).

However one common point of agreements is that congress managed to turn a horrible bill into an even worse monster type of bill, yet the media called the abomination a “sweetened” version and oh surprise now that it is worse, it was approved without problems.

Frankly I would have rather seen the original bill approved by the house that this hydra that will be approved tomorrow. Because we can’t lie to ourselves, with so much pork in it, no seasoned house representative will vote against this.

Oh, the joys of ignorance. I remember when I used to sleep at night. Safe and secure in the knowledge…that I had none!
This is just the begining, not the end.
What kind of world are we in when we have to choose the lesser of the two evils?
One whose policies will help you if you don’t pay, give you a job if you commit a crime, shift the blame to others if you do not succeed, and while THIS country is in a financial freefall (wait for it) his policies will double FOREIGN assistance, and IF you make his definition of “too much” then he will make it legal to get in your wallet, take your money and give it to someone who just does not have as much as you do.
Its not their fault after all. Just because they did not go to college, work, or even try to change their own life with self responsiblity. Why shouldn’t YOU pay? You can afford it, it’s time to be “patriotic.” Wonder what his supporters are going to feel like when they make a dollar and the government gets
    50-75 cents of it?
Or we have a guy who neither side completely agree with but whom all claim they want partisanship to stop. So wouldn’t someone who believes a little of you and a little me be the middle we want?

I think that you folks should stop pushing party politcs. You are just perpetuating a broken system. I discovered that both parties are fundamentaly the same, self serving bufoons who spew whatever nonsense they think will help them hold on to power and wealth.

But at the end of the day (as this vote indicates) they care nothing for you, your opinions, your financial well being, or even their mandate of REPRESENTING THE PEOPLE.

After this latest fiasco, where public sentiement was 300-1 against this abortion of a law, they arrogantly voted to support this measure. I can no longer support either party. They sold out you and your children and your grand children in one of the biggest ripoffs in history.

The question is, are going to sit and take it? The damage to our nation is immeasurable, from the deregulation of Wall Street (that started this mess) to the incredible self serveing arrogance of fridays vote. These people have sold out America to the highest bidder!

The best qualifications for politicans ought to be NO EXPIERIENCE! Do us all a favor and vote independent and free us from the status quo.

    Good Luck

If we keep voting for the lesser of 2 evils…we are fools. Setting ourselves up for more of the same! When are we going to stop playing their game, and do what our ancesters did. FIGHT THEM! DON’T COW DOWN!!!

“You can afford it, it’s time to be ‘patriotic.’”

Exactly…we’re at war, and it’s time for the rich to start sacrificing like just about everyone has been so far!

“Wonder what his supporters are going to feel like when they make a dollar and the government gets 50-75 cents of it?”

They won’t be saying anything because this will never happen!

“from the deregulation of Wall Street (that started this mess)”

…that was sponsored by the GOP.

  10. Smitty Says:

Sickle, don’t believe the liberal LA Times! U.S. taxpayers are/were overwhelmingly against the bailout of Wall Street . According to this article on the New American:

    http://www.thenewamerican.com/economy/economics-mainmenu-44/376

“Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California, has received nearly 17,000 e-mail messages, nearly all opposed to the bailout, her office said. More than 2,000 constituents called Ms. Boxer’s California office on Tuesday alone; just 40 favored the bailout. Her Washington office received 918 calls. Just one supported the rescue plan.

Senator Sherrod Brown, Democrat of Ohio, said he had been getting 2,000 e-mail messages and telephone calls a day, roughly 95 percent opposed….”

As you can see we all want accountability! Why should we pay for wealthy men and women to keep their vacation homes while regualr working Americans, can barely afford to heat their homes?

After this bailout, a loaf of bread will cost $6 because the treasury is printing money and distributing it before the ink is dry….

Don’t let party politics fool you, they are all corrupt!

    Good Luck

That’s NOT at all what this fiasco is all about, period.

“The New American” is merely another arm of the Right-wing noise machine BTW.
